Spray polyurethane foam, commonly referred to as SPF, is a sprayed foam insulation that starts as a liquid, goes through specialized equipment, and is then mixed at the end of the spray gun. It is sprayed onto a surface and expands multiple times past its original volume. SPF formulas can be adjusted to have different physical properties depending on the type of application you need it for. For example, the same basic materials can make an insulation foam that is semi-rigid and soft to the touch, and those same materials can also create a high-density roofing foam that is resistant to various weights and water.
Spray foam insulation is used in both residential and commercial applications because of its ability to seal and insulate structures. Common uses for it include home insulation and structure sealing. The properties of spray foam make it a much tighter sealant and insulator than packaged material you might generally apply to your house or commercial structure.
