What is intumescent coating
Insul-foam Services recently sprayed a large warehouse with
intumescent coating.
An intumescent is a substance that swells when it is exposed to heat. Usually used in fire protection it needs to comply with the national building codes and laws
Intumescent coatings are typically applied to the inside of buildings for a more aesthetic form of fire prevention.
When exposed to high temperatures it can expand to 100 times it’s original application and the heat creates a light char which works to retard heat transfer.
