This was an addition done years ago that was not insulated very well and proved to be failing (attic rain etc). A closed cell application at minimum two inch depth was applied to the backside of the drywall from the roof. After replacing some drywall we sprayed right over all the ceiling drywall and the fibreglass batts were relaxed overtop for a hybrid attic insulation system.
