This recent project we did for a customer involved developing a legal suite here in Calgary. We see lots of old basements where the framing was done by the original homeowner. Stud spacings can be all over the map making it very difficult to insulate with fibreglass batts that are made in specific widths. On this one we used an application of the Genyk Boreal Nature Elite at a depth of 2″. It can actually be exciting to spray foam these older houses, knowing it will completely change the feel and efficiency of the home, filling in minor cracks in the foundation as we go. I know from first hand experience how big of a difference it can make.
Another advantage of the foam is the speed at which we can do even a large basement. We’ll take care of these jobs in one visit and the builder has the best possible insulation application and he can move on to the drywall 24 hours after we’re done. This will be a comfortable space for people long into the future.
